Montour Trail

Montour Road (Groveton) (Mile 0) to Hassan Road (Mile 1.4) reopened after repairs fixed the damage due to hurricane Ivan.
Hassam Road (mile 1.4) to Beaver Grade Road (mile 3.1) to Park Manor Drive (mile 4.1) to Cliff Mine Trailhead (mile 6.0) CLOSED  due to the flooding from hurricane Ivan. In some sections all the trail surface was removed down to bed rock. Some of the approaches to bridges were scoured out over 15 feet deep.  Check Montour Trail Site for most recent information.
Cliff Mine Trailhead (Mile 6.0) to Enlow (Mile7.6) to North Star Road mile(9.5) have been reopened, but the trail is rough in some areas. Check Montour Trail Site for most recent information.
North Star Road (mile 9.5) to McDonald Trestle to Bridge over Route 50- Completed -(Rode December 5, 2004 )
Bridge over Route 50 - Waiting on PennDOT to redo the intersection - Maybe next year or the one after that.   There is a quarter mile on road to get around this section.
Bridge over Route 50 to Hendersonville - Completed (Rode September 13, 2003)
Hendersonville - Bridge over Morganza Road missing.  300 yards on road for an at grade crossing.
Hendersonville to Chartiers Creek - Completed - One at grade crossing with steep, 20 foot hill (Rode August 9, 2003)
Chartiers Creek to Rt. 19 - Design and engineering underway
Rt. 19 to Library Jct. - Completed (Arrowhead Trail)
Library Jct. to Brownsville Rd - Design and engineering underway
Brownsville Rd to Triphammer Rd - Completed
Triphammer Rd to Snowden - Design and engineering underway
Snowden to Gill Hall - Completed  (Rode 8/2004)
Gill Hall to Large - Trail on existing low traffic  road.  1.5 miles along level park road, .5 miles over small hill (Rode July 2003)
Large to Clairton - Completed  (Rode 8/2004)

Three Rivers Heritage Trail

West End Bridge to Duquesne Incline -  Penndot to rework as part of the West End reconstruction.
Duquesne Incline to South 3rd Street - Completed - watch out for pedestrians as you go by Station Square
South 3rd Street to 9th St. - Use McKean and Bingham Street
9th St. to west side of  Glenwood Bridge - Completed - No access at the Glenwood Bridge end. (Rode 11/2004)
West side of  Glenwood Bridge to Sandcastle - Design and engineering underway

Steel Valley Trail

Alongside  Sandcastle - Acquisition of Right of way underway
Sandcastle to Lowes Theater - Acquisition of Right of way  underway
Lowes Theater to east edge of Waterfront - (2 mile of trail ) Completed (Rode 10/2004)
Waterfront to Kennywood Amusement Park  - Acquisition of R/W underway
Kennywood Amusement Park to McKeesport - Design and engineering underway
McKeesport to Clairton - Signed for bike lanes and shared roadway

Youghiogheny River Trail, North

McKeesport Marina to 15th St. Bridge - Completed
15th St Bridge to McKeesport city limits on east side of Youghiogheny - Completed
McKeesport city limits to Boston on east side of Youghiogheny - use back streets near river (low traffic) to Boston Bridge, then walk bikes on sidewalk across bridge
15th St. Bridge to Durabond Plant on west side of Youghiogheny - use roadway
Durabond Plant to Boston to Connellsville - Completed

Youghiogheny River Trail, South

Connellsville to Confluence - Completed

Allegheny Highlands Trail in Pennsylvania

Confluence to Salisbury Viaduct - Completed including the viaduct
End of Salisbury Viaduct to Meyersdale to Sand Patch - Contract has been let for 1.3+ million - Construction is anticipated to take all season. Culvert at high Street is now in place, but trail still closed. (Reported 10/2004)
Sand Patch to Big Savage tunnel - Contract has been let for 1.2+ million - Construction is anticipated to take all season. (Reported 5/2004)
Keystone Viaduct - Completed.  but the trail on either side of the viaduct has not be worked on.  (Rode September 23, 2003)
Big Savage Tunnel - Active Construction on connecting trail.  Tunnel is closed to traffic. Expected opening in spring 2005. (Report 7/2004)
Big Savage Tunnel to State Line - Possible by the spring 2005. (Reported 7/2004) 

Allegheny Highlands Trail in Maryland

State Line to Frostburg - Trail surface has been repaired from the damage due to hurricane (Ivan). The county has stated that the trail will be open to the general public the first of spring. (reported 12/10/2004)
Frostburg to Woodcock Hollow - The contract has been awarded to construct the trail from just outside of the Frostburg New Hope Road Trail Head to Woodcock Hollow, about half way to Cumberland. This section will be under construction until late in 2005. (reported 12/10/2004)
Woodcock Hollow to Cumberland - is in the final design stage and the trail group is working with Federal and State officials to secure funding. (Report 12/10/2004)
